“In November 2003, the South Taranaki District Council became one of the first Councils in New Zealand to achieve ISO 9001 International Quality Management Standard accreditation for the whole Council. … The Council’s aim to use the ISO standard to improve the way we work and the delivery of services to our customers resulted in the development of a Business Improvement System for the whole Council. … The key mechanism of our Business Improvement System is the Opportunity to Improve Customer Service System known as “OICS”.”

Wellington City Libraries:  Branch Optimum Stock Sizes Project (B.O.S.S.)

“The B.O.S.S. project was undertaken as a means to provide customer-focused collections in each of Wellington City Libraries’ twelve branch libraries…. As a result of the B.O.S.S. Project and B.O.S.S.i, the implementation phase of the project, the previously tired and under-used branch library collections have been transformed into up-to-date customer-focused collections appropriate to the size of each library’s customer base.”

  Using Technology to improve process management enhancing the efficient and effective response to the February 2004 significant Storm event in the Manawatu District

“Over the period 15 –20 February 2004 the staff of the Manawatu District Council were involved in coordinating the response to and recovery from a significant weather event...The event encompassed the entire Manawatu-Wanganui region; the worst affected districts were Wanganui, Rangitikei, Tararua, Horowhenua and Manawatu. The scale of the event resulted in damage to infrastructure of around $20 million to the Manawatu District Council… Throughout the period of the emergency the system operated faultlessly.”
