    It Starts in Parks

The It Starts in Parks! programme is the first step in coordinating community engagement across the regional park network.  At present, a review of the partnership strategy is underway.This will look at extending current successes to developing recreation and health related programmes in alignment with other organisations.

  Positive Ageing New Plymouth

New Plymouth District Council is responsible for delivering a wide range of services to a ... community of around 70,000 people.  A large proportion of our population is aged over 65, with unique requirements for housing, health, transport and social services.  In 2003 new Plymouth became the first local authority in New Zealand to commit formally to the principles of the government's positive Ageing Strategy.

  School Programmes H20 Xtream

The benefits for both local and non local schools have been tremendous. H20 Xtream offers professional Learn to swim lessons and water safety courses that include boat, surf and river safety. The programme is based around the strands of the school curriculum and enables teachers to easily assess children’s progress while lessons are being delivered by qualified learn to swim teachers.

Several South Taranaki businessmen are keen to boost the Science and Math sections of the STDC libraries with books that will entice and inspire young readers into a greater enjoyment of these subjects. ... The advantages of this scheme are that by encouraging children into the scientific and maths areas, future employment opportunities would open up for both the children and the employers.
