Managing Manukau City's growth and Development - The Enterprise Asset View Project
"Manukau City Council has assets valued at $6b and it is important these assets are well managed. Enterprise Asset View (EAV) is a sophisticated new asset management software tool information about the council’s assets. EAV’s point of difference is that by using modern technology applied in an innovative and pragmatic way, we have achieved the benefits of an integrated system at a fraction of the cost of the traditional approach."

Project Model Excellence
"The Wellington Transport Strategy Model (WTSM) provides significant input into strategic planning processes within the regional council, and is a key input to planning processes conducted by key stakeholders.... Project Model Excellence (PME) is a new process of continual improvement to the quality of modeling advice provided to internal and external stakeholders. Monitoring on performance is conducted on a quarterly basis, and new initiatives have been developed to improve GWRC’s modeling function. "
Manukau City Council
Manukau City Council Employee Wellness programme – Wellness Connection
“The level of staff absenteeism at Manukau City Council was running at four per cent per month and costing the organisation around $2m per annum. Apart from the obvious impacts on the organisation such as cost, lost productivity, reduced levels of customer service and additional workload on remaining staff, high levels of absenteeism negatively impact staff morale. ... The solution was to introduce an employee wellness programme to meet the needs of over 1000 employees. The aim of the Wellness Connection programme was to empower staff to take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing focusing on the full spectrum of wellbeing – physical, mental and spiritual. “

- Upper Hutt's Cemetery Mapping and Imaging Project
"The Upper Hutt City Council Cemetery Mapping and Imaging project was designed to improve the quality and quantity of information available to the community from the Council’s website www.upperhuttcity.com/cemetery. Council can now offer an electronic database that allows the user to find memorial headstones and plaques via an online search engine. Users can then view a recent photograph of the headstone and an image showing its precise location within the Cemetery, via GPS mapping. To date over 4800 memorial headstone/plaque images have been captured and mapped. This has resulted in improved and enhanced service and access to this important Council facility."

Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS Project)
“In 2007, Auckland City Council was facing significant challenges managing a large, complex workforce with inadequate and outdated HR systems. The implementation of an integrated payroll and HR information system that would become part of the council’s enterprise resource planning system was recommended. ... This project known as the HRIS project was successfully delivered within 12 months in spite of complex project and organisational challenges. A seamless transition from the old to the new system has enabled managers and staff across the organisation to get real benefits from the new, integrated, online HR information system.”
South Taranaki District Council

InSite
“InSite is the name given to our Electronic Document Record Management System (EDRMS) that is built around the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise edition and the Microsoft Office 2007 desktop applications. We decided to avoid the huge expense of implementing a traditional EDRMS system by using the software
we are already licensed to use under our Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft.
We put forward a successful funding application to Microsoft’s Innovation Centre’s Deployment Fund for $70,000 to assist our project ... The goal was to improve our record keeping culture and align to the Public Records Act 2005 (PRA) requirements without significant change for staff”
Rotorua District District Council

Purchasing Matters

Several initiatives were developed into business cases with the objectives of improving administrative efficiency, reducing unnecessary costs and helping council keep rates increases to within 2% for 2009/10 and within the level of CPI over the next nine years. ”

Building Contract Capability
“After focusing on the process and systems dimensions of contract management, in 2007 Waitakere City Council has turned its attention to building a “Contract Capability System” as the latest tool in its user friendly “toolkit” of contract resources. This project consists of two elements:
These have been developed both to ensure that staff who administer contracts have a high level of contract skills; and to minimise the adverse effects that can arise from high contract workloads, staff changes, and human error.. ”
Taupo District Council
East Urban Lands

Tararua District Council
Tararua Inter-Town Fibre
